Residents invited to vote on high-rise development

During November, the public was invited to express their views on a proposed high-rise project that will offer a shared parking agreement with public access.

The developers intend to build a hotel and apartments in Fullerton. Proceeding with this development will require the demolition of a public parking structure that is reserved for bus and train passengers. If the project is approved, it will see the construction of 286 apartments with 15 percent of the units reserved for affordable housing and some space for retail outlets.

An agreement is in place for shared parking. This will allow the public to use the parking spaces within the complex and reduce the number of parking spaces that the developer would have had to provide otherwise. In order for the project to be approved, the city will need to make changes to the neighborhood’s Specific Plan. Brochure printing is an effective way of sharing details about a project that is in development.

The environmental impact assessment shows that the development will have no impact on the area’s quality of air and traffic. The public was invited to vote on whether the project can proceed because the parking lot is on public land and the city plans to sell it. The public will also be informed of the fact that the 286 units now in the plan are not the same as the original proposal for a 7-story hotel with 124 rooms.
