Gardens in neighborhood improve Fullerton

At the intersection of Woods and Malvern, Fullerton homeowners have developed stunning and beautiful gardens.

To stop people from discarding their waste in and around Truslow, Ignacio "Iggy" Morales came up with a proposal to create a garden. Iggy requested permission from the acting city manager in 2020 so that the Truslow neighborhood may use its water to irrigate the garden plots and contribute mulch. The purpose of maintaining this garden is to encourage others to establish similar community gardens, contribute to the city's green space, learn more about farming, and gather seeds to develop a local seed bank. Iggy utilizes a calendar to organize and inform both the community and himself.

Iggy, who resides in the area, started collaborating with a few locals. It did not take long for the Sunrise Rotary to join the project and it started collaborating with Iggy on the community garden's organic growth.

When the remainder of the Truslow neighborhood chose to create a garden, it became a communal garden. They started by taking out the trash, then they spread mulch and cardboard which they got from a nearby company called organixrecycles.com. The neighborhood returned to start planting the next later and now the area looks much more inviting. The Truslow neighborhood is now dotted with lovely gardens instead of being a trash-filled wasteland.
