The 3rd annual Tommy Lasorda Day Festival in Fullerton will be in honor of a local hero.
In 2021, September 22 was officially designated as Tommy Lasorda Day by the City of Fullerton. Lasorda, a longtime Fullerton resident who passed away two years ago, is in the Hall of Fame as a baseball manager. He guided the Los Angeles Dodgers to two World Series championships during his 20-year tenure.
In commemoration of Lasorda's birthday, the city will host a free event featuring live musical acts from the tribute band Anything for Salinas, as well as food trucks and craft stalls. The festival will also showcase youth baseball games organized by the city's high schools and youth leagues. Poster printing is a popular way of promoting events.
Lasorda's family, in collaboration with Steel Sports, also plans to conduct assemblies at multiple middle schools. These assemblies aim to inspire students, urging them to cultivate self-confidence and understand that with unwavering dedication, they have the power to achieve any dream, echoing Tommy Lasorda's philosophy: "You Gotta Believe."
The City of Fullerton expresses its gratitude to Republic Services and the OC Power Authority for their donations and steadfast support for this event.
The festival will be in Fullerton and is scheduled for September 22, starting at 4:00 pm. It will be held at the Fullerton Sports Complex, situated on East Silver Pine Street.
