Christmas class teaches Fullerton to make ornaments

A workshop invites participants in Fullerton to learn the basics of wire wrapping and create their own Christmas spider ornament, a unique and traditional holiday decoration.

Marggi Markowitz facilitates the Wire Wrapping Christmas Spider Ornament Class. The experienced fine jeweler will walk participants through wire wrapping processes, ensuring that even people without any experience in jewelry-making or wire-wrapping techniques can participate. At the end of the session, the attendees will have made their personalized Christmas spider ornaments to take home. Details about upcoming events can be shared with flyer printing.

This class draws on the Legend of the Christmas Spider, an East European folktale. The story goes on about a poor widow with her children who took care of a tree in their house with the hope that it would become their Christmas tree. They were so poor that they could not even afford some decorations, yet when they woke up on Christmas day, the tree was covered with cobwebs. After sunshine broke through the window onto the cobwebs they turned into threads made out of pure gold and silver.

The ticket price is $25 dollars per person and this covers all materials and tools necessary for making the ornament. Seats are limited to 10 only due to supply constraints, so advance booking is highly recommended.

A Wire Wrapping Christmas Spider Ornament Class, led by professional jeweler Marggi Markowitz, will take place on November 17th at Ipso Facto in Fullerton.
