Shark, Olympian and NASA exec help celebrate San Diego Womens Week

A television shark, an Olympic gold medalist, a former NASA CIO, and the father of a kidnapped girl will be just some of the speakers who will inspire, enlighten and empower at an upcoming women’s conference with special events near Escondido.

San Diego Women’s Week is organized by the North San Diego Business Chamber, which focuses on supporting businesses in San Diego County. It is the 11th year for the event.

The week culminates with the Leadership Conference on August 28, where keynote speakers and panel discussions will take place in an interactive virtual experience.

Speakers include:

• Linda Cureton, former CIO of NASA
• Daymond John, star of ABC’s Shark Tank
• Natasha Watley, Olympic gold medallist, softball
• Ed Smart, father of Elizabeth Smart, kidnapped and found alive in Utah in 2002

There are different events throughout five days near Escondido, including Women and Wine where attendees can sample California wines and food with a free souvenir wine glass and get discounts on bottles of their favorite wines.

Women and Wine is Wednesday, August 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bernardo Winery, 13330 Paseo del Vernao Norte.

San Diego Women’s Week Opening Night takes place Monday, August 24 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Petco National Support Center, 10850 Via Frontera. There will be a keynote speaker and panel group, with wine and beer tastings, food samples and free parking. Women and Wine and Opening Night are both a short drive from Escondido.
