An upcoming workshop is being held near Escondido to help make workplaces safer.
The 24-hour. Competent Person Fall Protection Training will provide those who take part with the skills they need to help prevent falls in the workplace. It will involve 24 hours of instruction, and is in accordance with the EM385-1-1 and 29CFR 1926. The students will be given an introduction to USACE EM385-1-1 Safety & Health Standards, and also the Cal/OSHA and OSHA General Industry & Construction Safety Standards and Regulations.
Participants will learn how to recognize hazards and how to remove them, as well as how to properly use and store safety equipment, what to do in an emergency, and basic techniques for rescue. Lifeline systems, conventional systems, anchor points, and body harness devices will all be discussed. It is geared towards those who are the onsite competent person for their workplace and anyone who is required, as part of their duties, to manage a safety program.
The Training will be facilitated by the San Diego chapter of ABC Training. It will take place at the Poway ABC Training Academy from October 11 to the 13, and a lunch will be provided. A company that produces Presentation Folders can create packages of handouts and other materials for use during a course such as this.
More information can be found on the workshop’s Eventbrite listing.
