Rock experience scheduled for Escondido

A spectacular show is promised for audiences in Escondido.

ProgJect-The Ultimate Prog Rock Experience is coming to the California Center for the Arts, bringing experienced musicians to play the hits.

ProgJect’s current lineup is Alessandro del Vecchio, who has worked with the band Hardline, as lead vocalist; Jonathan Mover (Joe Satriani, GTR, and others) on percussion, drums, vocals, and samples; Pete Griffin (Edgar Winter and Zappa Plays Zappa) on keys, guitar, pedals, bass, and vocals; Mike Keneally (Steve Vai, Frank Zappa, and others) on guitar and vocals; and keyboardist Ryo Okumoto (Spock’s Beard, Asia/John Payne). Travis Larson will open the event.

ProgJect will perform for more than two hours, playing hits like “Carry On Wayward Son,” “Hoedown,” “One More Red Nightmare,” “Wish You Were Here,” and many others. The idea for ProgJect came from Johathan Mover, who was called at the last moment to fill in for the drummer of The Musical Box, a tribute band for Genesis. He had such a good time that he began to think about why he became a drummer to begin with, which was to play Prog Rock songs like “Dance on a Volcano” and “Watcher of the Skies.” He decided to put together a band to play the best of Prog Rock—Genesis, King Crimson, ELP, YES, and some Jethro Tull, Peter Gabriel, and others.

The concert is set for July 10. Shows like this benefit from Posters advertising them, which organizers can find at local Print shops.
