Escondido’s Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve is home to a diverse assortment of plants, animals, and natural features. A walk will take members of the public through the park, and as they go, they will have a chance to discover more about this local natural resource and its inhabitants.
The hike will be led by Al Bates, who is a retired law enforcement professional who has many years of experience backpacking and hiking. He has also been trained as an interpretive guide and currently volunteers with the Trail Patrol. He will point out different sights along the path the group will follow, and can also answer questions and share advice about spending time in the great outdoors.
The participants in this event will meet at the reserve’s interpretive center, and once everyone has arrived, it will set out. It will follow a moderate pace, and the route taken will be along the lower creek trail. There is no registration fee, but RSVPing ahead of time can aid in organizing the hike.
