Time is running out for residents of Escondido to take in the works of one of the most influential Hispanic artists of the 20th Century.
The World of Frida celebrates the life and art of Frida Kahlo. Born in Mexico in 1907, shortly before the Mexican Revolution, Kahlo’s portraits, most notably her self-portraits, are some of the most instantly recognizable artistic works in Mexico.
Besides her artistic work, Kahlo was also a political activist and inspired many minority groups such as women, the LGBTQ community, and the Mexican Chicano movement.
Mexico has designated her work as a national treasure and has banned its export, so it is rare to see an exhibit such as this one in another country. Art exhibits, especially when newly set up or in their final few weeks, can use printing services for programs, Banners, and other signage.
The exhibit is in conjunction with National Hispanic Heritage Month, a month dedicated to celebrating the historic and cultural contribution of Hispanic Americans.
The World of Frida runs until November 15. The California Center for the Arts is located at 340 N. Escondido Blvd. in Escondido. Hours are Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm, and Sundays 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Every Wednesday, the center hosts a wine event and is open until 8:00 pm.
