Escondido has opened its first of what will be five new outdoor fitness centers in the city.
The public spaces are called Fitness Courts, and Escondido residents wanting an outdoor fitness setting with plenty of room for social distancing can now stretch, lunge, and jump their way into shape.
The outdoor gym is the result of the National Fitness Campaign (NFC), which is building the “world’s best free outdoor gyms” in 200 locations across the country.
Residents of all ages and abilities are free to use the center, which provides a full-body workout circuit that can be used at any pace. Visitors can use the new equipment in a variety of ways.
Signs around the center offer instructions on how to use the facility. There is also an app for mobile phones that visitors can use to get the most out of their workouts.
Escondido is one of several “Model Cities” chosen to start this initiative. Escondido City Council has approved funding for the next two fitness centers. Locations have not been announced as yet.
There are now sponsorship packages available to local businesses and individuals who want to be associated with a healthy lifestyle infrastructure. Sponsorship packages often include banner printing with the sponsor’s Logo Design.
The Fitness Court is located at Mountain View Park, 1160 S. Citrus Ave. in Escondido.
