Escondido residents will turn into Renaissance men and women for a few days this spring as the annual Escondido Renaissance Fantasy Faire returns.
The festival turns Felicita Park into a scene from the Elizabethan era, complete with knights, pirates, and princesses. Hundreds of people attend in full costume.
Old Tyme Productions puts on the event. Its goal, according to its website, is to entertain and educate people about what life was like in the Elizabethan era, which is recognized as a “golden age” of English history during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1558-1603). It is a time when poetry, literature and music flourished, and the English navy dominated over the Spanish armada in international colonialism.
Visitors can watch field battles, visit an Elizabethan pub, or witness an archery tournament.
Signs, Flyers and other promotional materials for events such as these can be professionally created and printed at local Print shops.
Tickets are $19 for adults and $9 for children. There are also discounts for military and law enforcement families and seniors. There are weekend passes available for $34 for adults and $14 for children.
