Escondido conference brings sectors together

For the second time, a conference will bring the tech and agriculture sectors together to look at the future, and how the two will interact.

AgTech Day will give people from the tech, food production, and agriculture communities an opportunity to get together to network, speak with experts who may be able to act as mentors, listen to keynote speakers, and enjoy food and drinks.

At the first meeting in October, the idea of developing an AgTech incubator was discussed. Escondido already supports technology and agriculture through several programs and policies. A vacant industrial building owned by the city could become an incubator where venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and researchers in the field of agricultural technology could meet to consider developing new companies and technologies to support the agricultural industry in San Diego’s North County.

Escondido is adjacent to the San Pasqual Valley, which covers about 14,000 acres and is mostly agricultural, with pastures, dairies, field crops, vineyards, and orchards operating here. The incubator dovetails with the agricultural history of the region, and the increasing presence of technology companies. It also has the potential to change an abandoned building into a vibrant workspace.

The AgTech Innovation Hackathon is scheduled for January 19, 2023, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm, at the Synergy CoWorking Centre, located at 140 North Escondido Boulevard. Events like these provide ideal opportunities for people to exchange Business Cards.
