Escondido asked to give Saluting Marine special send-off

A unique salute to the nation’s veterans is set to hit the road, and its route will kick off in Escondido. A party is in the works to help mark the beginning of its 16-city tour, and the organizers are hoping as many people as possible will attend and be a part of the celebration.

United States Marine Corps vet Ssgt Tim Chambers will serve as the Saluting Veteran, and he will be heading across the country to pay tribute to its men and women in uniform. He will reach Washington D.C. in time for the memorial day weekend.

To help get him off to a great start, a send-off will be held in Escondido. The doors are scheduled to open at 3:00 pm The crowd at the party will be treated to music and other entertainment, and food will be available for purchase as well. The guests can try their luck in the raffle and, while they enjoy themselves, they will be asked to remember the sacrifices made by members of the nation’s armed forces.

Donations to “The Saluting Marine” will be most welcome, and these will be used to help provide for veterans in need. An area printer will be able to use graphic design methods to produce decor and other materials that can aid an occasion like this in raising both funds and awareness.

Post 149 of the Escondido American Legion is set to host this event on April 27th. Anyone who is interested in learning more can do so on its Facebook listing.
