Dragons, albeit small ones, will be the order of the day during a session on the agenda for the Escondido Public Library.
Kids who are ages 5 to 12 are invited to come to an event that will allow them to share a story with some bearded dragons. The children will read aloud to the lizards, which may help them to both gain confidence in their reading abilities and build their literacy skills. The reptiles will be supervised by trained animal educators, who will be sharing information about the dragons, as well as other lizards, and there will be no fee charged to participate.
Parents and caregivers who are interested in having their son or daughter take part are required to preregister their child for a specific time slot ahead of the event. Four time slots will be organized throughout the afternoon, and each has five seats allotted to it. The children who participate will need to be able to read, and additional details can be obtained by contacting the library’s Youth Service Staff at 760-839-5456. Flyers can be placed throughout the community to promote a function such as this.
This day, which will see young readers sharing story with some scaly friends, has been planned for November 9 at 239 South Kalmia Street. More details can be obtained on the institution’s Facebook page.
