Many cities and towns have haunted houses, but Encinitas is going one better.
Once again, The Heritage Ranch and the Ovation Theatre are teaming up to create their annual haunted town, a family-friendly adventure complete with scares. A guided tour will take visitors through the town.
A cast of all-volunteer actors will be found in restored historical buildings that form the base of the Haunted Ghost Town, where an original ghost story plays out. Visitors with the nerve to explore can enter Bitter Gulch, a forsaken town where pirates and the undead lurk.
The story this year revolves around a ghostly pirate ship that washes ashore in Bitter Gulch, igniting a frenzy of greed and excitement in the residents. Unfortunately for them, they come to a horrible realization: the crew of the pirate ship is not peaceful in death. Driven by their lust for the treasure that was stolen from them, the pirates rise from the sea to terrorize the town and reclaim their treasure.
At the heart of the story is one of the pirate captain’s descendants who must face the ghost and decide whether she is going to save Bitter Gulch or join the terrifying crew in their hunt for gold.
The Haunted Ghost Town opens October 18 and runs on the 19th, 20th, 25th, 26th, and 27th. The hours are 5.00 pm until 8.15 pm, with family hours from 5.00 pm until 6.15 pm daily. Using poster printing, organizers of colorful events like this will often create advertising for them.
