Soul of Yoga will host an evening of music in Encinitas this October, featuring Govind Das of Bhakti Yoga Shala as a guest performer.
The program will center on kirtan, a participatory practice that combines repeated mantras, music and group chanting within the Bhakti yoga tradition.
Merry Trentadue, who established the local Kirtan Club in 2018, will facilitate the gathering alongside Govind Das. No previous chanting or yoga experience is required, and participants of all ages may attend. The candlelit program is intended to provide a communal setting for music, meditation and spiritual practice. Traditional fruit and sweets, known as prasad, will be offered afterward.
Trentadue is a certified yoga therapist and experienced yoga instructor whose work includes Bhakti yoga, sound practices and teacher education.
Admission follows a three-level sliding scale. Participants may pay $25 at the supported rate, $33 at the standard suggested level or $44 for those wishing to contribute additional financial support to the studio and its programming. It should be noted that people unable to afford admission may contact Trentadue before the event to request assistance. Refunds are available until seven days before the gathering, and parking is complimentary.
Organizers of community programs such as this often use poster printing to promote guest performers, schedules and venue information.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Soul of Yoga, 627 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas, California. Doors open at 6:15 pm.
