Special event starts the holidays in Encinitas

A special event is returning to Encinitas to kick start the holidays.

The 2022 Encinitas Holiday Parade is back, thanks to the sponsorship of Ting Internet. The parade route starts at D Street, with units moving south to end at I Street. Before the parade steps off, however, another extremely important person will be on hand. Santa Claus will be at the Lumberyard Shops, where he will take part in the official Tree Lighting ceremony.

The theme of this year’s parade is “Classic Encinitas.” From music, fashion, and cars to traditions, lore, and legends unique to Encinitas, parade organizers want to see what “Classic Encinitas” means to participants. The Parade Grand Marshal for 2022 is Warren Raps.

To make it simple for people to attend the parade, shuttle buses will be available. The free shuttles will pick up parade-goers from two locations, the parking lot of the San Dieguito Academy High School, and the Ecke Sports Park/YMCA. The shuttles will begin service at 4:00 pm, picking up riders from the parade route until 8:30 pm.

ADA-accessible shuttles will run from the location at the San Dieguito Academy every 20 minutes approximately, and drop passengers on Vulcan Avenue, at the NCTD bus station, only one-half block from the parade.

The parade is set for December 3, from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. The Tree Lighting is 5:00 pm. Organizers of outdoor events like these can use banner printing to create appropriate, weather-resistant decorations.
