Soothing event planned in Encinitas

An event coming up in Encinitas promises to be a calming experience that will help attendees relax.

Swirl of Sound is presenting a sound bath with drums, didgeridoos, multiple gongs, and special guests. This type of sound healing helps to relax attendees’ bodies, shift their consciousness, and calm their autonomic nervous system.

The use of sound baths can be traced to cultures such as those of ancient Egypt, India, and Greece, where chanting, drumming, and using certain instruments were integral to healing and spiritual rituals. These practices are also found in Indigenous cultures and their instruments, such as the didgeridoos of Aboriginal Australians to the drum circles of Native Americans.

Swirl of Sound features Andy Laub, Bob Grimmick, and Pablo Ledesma. Pablo and Andy were friends, then Pablo met Bob, and finally the three all met each other at a deep sound meditation. They hit it off, and Swirl of Sound was born.

Everyone is welcome, and no prior experience with this type of event is needed. Attendees, however, should bring an eye mask, blanket, pillow, yoga mat, and perhaps their favorite stuffed toy.

The sound bath is scheduled for February 15, from 7.00 pm until 8.30 pm, at Soul of Yoga, 627 Encinitas Boulevard. The fee is $35 in advance, and $40 at the door if there is space available. When planning events like this, organizers might use flyer printing to create an instruction sheet for those new to the practice.
