Races set for Encinitas

Runners have a choice of courses in an upcoming event in Encinitas.

The parking lot of Encinitas's famous Moonlight Beach will be the start and end points of an upcoming half-marathon, as well as a 5K. The race course is level, and follows Highway 101 along the ocean. Runners will have to maintain a minimum pace of finishing a mile in 16 minutes, and there are no skates, bicycles, or pets allowed. However, participants may bring racing chairs, running chairs, and strollers. In addition, runners may bring their iPods, but are asked to keep the volume down so they can hear others.

Legacy runners who take part this year will receive special gifts. A legacy runner is someone who has finished the half-marathon in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The gifts will be distributed at the Race Shirt Tent. All participants will receive finishers' medals, T-Shirts, and other merchandise. A breakfast will be provided after the race, and a beer garden will be available where runners can cool off with free beers while they enjoy live music.

The races take place on March 29. The half-marathon starts at 7:30 am, and the 5K sets off ten minutes later, at 7:40 am. Runners will have three-and-one-half hours to finish the half-marathon, and one-and-one-quarter hours to finish the 5K. Parking is free, and there are complimentary shuttles available. Banner printing can provide materials to mark the course in events like this.
