Popular event returns to Encinitas

An upcoming race in Encinitas gives participants a chance to enjoy beautiful surroundings while they get some exercise and raise money for good causes.

The Moonlight Beach Half Marathon begins and ends at the world-famous beach. Race organizers note that the ocean in early morning in the spring is an unusual and vivid color, and the waves have a special appearance. The run is along the ocean, giving participants a clear view of the water. Organizers of events such as this can use banner printing to create Signs pointing out the course.

For the day of the race, the schedule sees the course open and registration start at 6.00 am. The opening announcements are at 7:00 am, the half-marathon begins at 7:30 am, the 5K starts at 9:00 am, and finally the course closes and awards are given out at 10:00 am.

Race organizers are also urging participants to pick up their packets before the event, rather than on the day of the race, since the shop will be crowded. Packets will be available at Road Runner Sports on Paseo Del Norte in Carlsbad.

Proceeds from the Moonlight Beach Half Marathon will be used to provide grants to the Boy Scouts of America-Encinitas Troop 776, the Cardiff School District, and the La Costa Canyon High School Theatre Club.

The race is set for March 22, and the packet pickup times are March 18 and March 19, from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm both days.
