One of spring’s most popular events is taking place soon in Encinitas.
The inaugural Moonlight Beach Half Marathon and 5K is coming back for a second year. This year, the event is a Shamrock Run coinciding with St. Patrick’s Day, and the details have now been finalized. Registrants will receive a time bib-chip, a premium T-shirt, and a finisher medal. They will also have the chance to enjoy live music, and admission to an after party.
For the first time, there is a costume contest, and everyone is advised to get their best green outfits on. Both teams and individuals can enter to win prizes. The prize for first place in the contest is $300, second is $200, and third is $100. There will also be identical cash prizes awarded to the top three finishers, male and female, in the half-marathon. The top two finishers in the 10K, male and female, will also receive complimentary entry to any Excelarace held in 2024.
Organizers note that at this time of year, the Pacific Ocean is particularly beautiful in the morning, and the waves are a gorgeous color, which is sure to enhance the race experience. Organizers of events like this will often use banner printing to create course markers, as they are strong and can be used outdoors.
The race will take place at 8.00am on March 17, and is presented by Excelarace, an event management company. The race begins and ends at Moonlight Beach.
