An event that everyone in San Diego County enjoys is on the way to Encinitas.
The Kook Run has unique elements including the opportunity for participants to run in costume if they like. Ancient Egyptians, pirates, superheroes and even Abraham Lincoln have taken part. Banner printing can be used to create course markers for events like this.
The course is an “out and back” run that begins and ends under the “Encinitas” sign. Runners will begin by running in the southbound lanes of Coast Highway 101, and finish by coming back in the northbound lanes. The turnaround is at South Cardiff State Beach. The course is slightly downhill southbound but offers some mild uphill stretches on the return. The route gives participants wonderful views of the beaches and the ocean. The race is suitable for runners of all skill levels.
Registration for the race includes free photos, a festival at the finish line, two aid stations on the course, a race shirt, finisher’s medal, and official results of the race.
Although the race is taking place in person, a virtual race is also available. Participants can run from their home, around their neighborhood, or anywhere they like. A bib, medal, and race shirt are also available to those who run the virtual race, but there may be a charge to mail the packet.
The Kook Run is set for 7.00 am on February 13, in downtown Encinitas.
