An event in Encinitas will give people a chance to see their city from a different vantage point.
Cyclovia Encinitas has been organized by the Mobility and Traffic Safety Commission and the City of Encinitas Environmental Commission, with assistance from Encinitas 101 and the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition. The event is intended to help support the City Council’s initiatives promoting health, wellness, and especially alternative modes of transport.
Cyclovia is a Spanish word that translates to “Cycleway.” For a short time, certain streets will be closed to automobiles so that cyclists, pedestrians, and skaters can have easy access to local businesses located on those streets. The event is global in scope, but Cyclovia Encinitas is the first time it has been held in North County.
Human-powered transport of all kinds is encouraged to take part and stop at the booths and fun stops along the route. Sprockids SD along with the San Diego Mountain Bike Association is hosting a pump track and bike skills area. Booths set up by the City of Encinitas and its partners will highlight projects and programs related to mobility.
Cyclovia Encinitas is set for May 18 from 10.00 am until 2.00 am, on Coast Highway 101 from D Street to I Street. The event is open to anyone and free of charge. When this type of event is planned, organizers can use banner printing to create Signs labeling participating booths.
