Encinitas will welcome the new year with rock 'n roll

A San Diego-area band is going to rock Encinitas to help get the new year started.

Equinox is returning to a popular Encinitas venue with a setlist of hits from alternative to funk to rock, and more. Equinox comprises Will Ater handling percussion and drums; Fritz Reich, providing vocals and playing guitar; Ken Michael, also a vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist; Matt Martin on bass guitar and vocals; and lead vocalist Dave Miller.

The band got together in 2018, when the five members jammed several times, and realized they all liked the same kind of music, and playing together solidified their connection and unique sound.

Their setlist includes some of the greatest hits from the world's most popular bands. Listeners at an Equinox contest might hear “Twist and Shout” from the Beatles; Elton John's “Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting”; “You've Lost That Loving Feeling” by Hall & Oates; or “I Love Rock and Roll,” which was a huge hit for Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Equinox is clearly not a cover or tribute band in the traditional sense, as they do not concentrate on the work of just one artist, but pick the songs they enjoy most.

Equinox will be at Mr. Peabody's on January 25, from 8:30 pm until midnight. Dancing starts at 8:30 pm, and there is no admission charge. Mr. Peabody's is at 136 Encinitas Boulevard. Flyer printing can be used to publicize special events like this.
