Encinitas to pack its bags for busy few weeks

The city of Encinitas’ Youth Commission is seeking donations of Backpacks for their 2012 Teen Backpack Project.

Backpacks will be collected from now until December 7, 2012 at the Cardiff and Encinitas libraries, City Hall, local fire stations, and the Encinitas Community Center. The backpacks will be filled with school supplies, toiletries, gift cards, reusable water bottles and packaged snacks and will be given to homeless, displaced, at risk and transitionally homeless youth.

The youth commission is hoping to provide at least 50 filled backpacks to the Community Resource Center but more would be greatly appreciated. Donors may provide any of the above listed items.

For further information regarding the Teen Backpack Project please contact Vicki Rubenstein, Recreation Supervisor with the City of Encinitas at 760-633-2758.
