Encinitas recently announced its plans for special events to kick off the holiday season.
The city revealed that arrangements for the Encinitas Holiday Parade are falling into place. The parade will march on Coast Highway 101 between J Street and D Street, and the festivities are set to get underway with a tree lighting ceremony. Santa will also be on hand, making a short appearance at the Lumberyard Shops, which are on the Coast Highway between H and I Streets.
Every parade has a theme, and this year the Encinitas Holiday Parade Committee has chosen “Traditions of Encinitas” as the subject. Committee members note that Encinitas has many traditions participants can draw on to create their parade entry. Some traditions are brand new trendsetters, while others go back into the city’s history. Among them are action sports, arts, gardening, surfing, and cycling.
People are encouraged to enter as groups, and go wild with creative projects that reflect one of Encinitas’s traditions. They might even consider giving a nod to one of this year’s sponsors: EDCO Disposal, AMR Ambulance, KickForce Martial Arts Encinitas, and Ting. Parade organizers are asking that there be no Santa costumes, as the “real” Santa will appear at the end of the parade. Santa hats, however, are okay.
The fun of the Encinitas Holiday Parade starts at 5.00pm on December 2 when the tree is lit, with the parade following at 5.30pm. Organizers of events like this can use banner printing to create seasonal decorations for the parade route.v
