Encinitas hosts films as part of festival

The La Paloma Theatre in Encinitas will be an important venue for film-goers taking part in the San Diego Asian Film Festival. According to a November 2, 2015 news item, this year is the sixteenth anniversary of the festival and the La Paloma will play a major role in the 10-day period. The film festival is based at La Jolla's Museum of Contemporary Art and the UltraStar Mission Valley, located at Hazard Center.

The festival is the West Coast's biggest showcase of Asian films, which will feature screenings of 130 movies from 20 countries. Four of the films will be presented at the La Paloma, which is located on Coast Highway 101. One of the movies is a West Coast premiere of a Hong Kong film.

The four films being shown in Encinitas are “Little Big Master,” a West Coast premiere, “Off the Menu: Asian American,” a San Diego premiere, “The Last Reel,” a San Diego premiere, and “Deadman Inferno,” another San Diego premiere.

All four will be shown on the same day, November 14. “Little Big Master” screens at 1 p.m., “Off the Menu” is at 3.20 p.m., “The Last Reel” is planned for 5.15 p.m., and “Deadman Inferno” will be shown at 7.30 p.m. The last is a horror comedy featuring cops, yakuza, and zombies.

La Paloma management could create Banners for each of the films to hang in the theater's lobby.
