Encinitas embraces green theme

Residents of Encinitas and San Diego County have a chance to go green, but not in the usual sense of the phrase.

The San Diego Botanic Garden, which is located on Quail Gardens Drive in Encinitas, has announced its annual Fall Plant Sale, the 38th year for the event. Sub-tropical plants, fruit trees, bromeliads, succulents, cacti, and other plants native to California will be available at reasonable prices. In addition, individuals, retail nurseries, wholesalers, and local plant growers often donate plants to the Garden for this sale, make the offerings diverse and interesting.

Vintage items related to gardens and gardening will be found in Botanic Alley, along with homemade products such as various specialty jellies.

Members of the Garden who choose to upgrade their membership will be given early access to the sale. Becoming a member of the Garden, or buying a one-time admission, also entitles the individual to attend the sale.

The San Diego Botanic Garden opened in 1970 as the Quail Park Botanic Garden, and grew to comprise the current area of 37 acres, forming an oasis in the city.

The 38th Annual Fall Plant Sale 2020 is scheduled for October 17 and 18, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm both days. It is suggested that anyone coming to the sale should bring their own wagons to take home their purchases. Banner printing can be used to develop creative decorations for events such as this, which take place partly outdoors.
