Encinitas has big plans for the holiday season, and everyone is invited.
The annual Encinitas Holiday Parade involves thousands of people, riding on floats or marching in bands and other units, while thousands more line the route to cheer them on. This year, organizers anticipate that almost 100 participating entries will cruise, scoot, cycle, march, or roll along the Coast Highway 101, bringing the holidays along with them.
Before the parade begins, though, there will be a community tree lighting, and an appearance by Santa Claus himself. This ceremony takes place at The Lumberyard, a shopping mall located in downtown Encinitas. Visitors here will find both shops and restaurants, and may want to do some shopping during the evening.
This year’s theme is “Creativity in Motion,” which is designed to acknowledge the spirit of imagination and innovation found in Encinitas. Whether they are performing or creating a colorful float, participants are invited to use their most creative ideas in moving displays of festive goodwill, culture, and art. Visual presentations, music, and dance performances can all help to share the excitement of creativity. Organizers of celebrations like this often use banner printing to create season decorations able to withstand outdoor use.
The Holiday Parade for this year is scheduled for Saturday, December 7. Santa’s visit to The Lumberyard and the tree lighting are set for 5.00 pm, with the parade following at 5.30 pm.
