Benefit planned for Encinitas hospital

Solana Beach will be the site of an event to help the hospital in nearby Encinitas.

This is the fourth year for the Rockin' Encinitas concert, which is held to raise funds for Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas. The featured performer this year is Johnny Rzeznik, guitarist and singer, and a founder of the Goo Goo Dolls. He has been with the group since they first got together in 1986. The Goo Goo Dolls have had several chart-topping hits, including “Iris” and “Slide.” The band has also supported a number of charities, such as food banks, over the years.

The hospital will use the funds raised to help purchase technology using robotic navigational bronchoscopy, which can help treat patients with lung diseases, including lung cancer, at Scripps Memorial in Encinitas.

Event organizers are inviting everyone to rock out at the Belly Up Tavern on South Cedros Avenue in Solana Beach. A VIP reception will kick things off at 5:00 pm, with the concert scheduled to run from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A live auction and cocktail party are also on the menu. Tickets for the evening are $300, or VIP tickets are available for $450. The VIP package includes prime concert seating, a meet-and-greet with the artist, and a reception before the event, with appetizers and a hosted bar.

The fundraiser is set for next Thursday, October 17. Poster printing is often used to create publicity for events like this.
