Rock band from Downey to visit Costa Mesa

A band that got its start in Downey is on tour, and Costa Mesa is one of the stops.

The Blasters first got together in Downey in 1979, with Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin as the founding members. The brothers are both guitarists, and Phil handles the vocals. The original lineup included John Bazz on bass guitar, and Bill Bateman on drums. They called their style “American music,” which is a mix of numerous genres including country, R&B, mountain music, punk rock, early rock, and rockabilly.

The eclectic mix of styles has served the group well. They have built a loyal fan base, and their music has been featured in several films and television shows, including the movie “Bull Durham” and the hit show “Miami Vice.” They released their latest album in 2021.

A review says:

“This show was like a Blast From the Past. Everything about it was AMAZING!!!”

Joining The Blasters in Costa Mesa is North Morlan, an up-and-coming band from Orange, California. They are making a name for themselves in the alt-rock genre, where they blend modern rock with nostalgia for classic rock and roll, resulting in a unique sound with almost-universal appeal.

The Blasters and North Morlan will be at The Wayfarer in Costa Mesa on April 23. Organizers of events like this can create compelling and attractive advertising for the occasion by using poster printing.
