Two bantamweight fighters will go head-to-head in Carson this weekend.
Rey Vargas, 28, is the WBC Super Bantamweight title holder. He will be defending his status against Tomoki ‘El Mexicanito’ Kameda, who is a former WBO World Bantamweight champion. This will be Vargas's second fight this year. In February, he defeated Venezuela's Franklin Manzanilla.
Vargas first won the title when he defeated Gavin McDonnell in 2017. Since that time, he has defended his title successfully against Azat Hovhannisyan, Oscar Negrete, and Ronny Rios, and most recently, Manzanilla, though it was a hard-won victory in which Vargas went down in round two.
However, it is the first contest for Kameda this year. He last fought last November, when he defeated Abigail Medina of Spain. Kameda grew up in Osaka, Japan, with his brothers Daiki and Kōki. Shiro, their father, hoped all three of his sons would win boxing titles, and his dream has come true. Kōki and Daiki are both titleholders. When he was 15, Tomoki moved to Mexico to learn boxing from experts there, earning him his nickname.
Carson's Dignity Health Sports Park will be the site of the fight. The venue is also home to the L.A. Galaxy, a professional soccer team, and provides a site for other types of activities.
The fight is scheduled for this Saturday, July 13. Brochure printing is often used to create programs for sporting events of all kinds.
