Carson to benefit from new deal with county

The City of Carson and its residents will be the beneficiaries of a recent deal between the community and the County of Los Angeles.

Under the provisions of the agreement, $5m will be given to Carson for road improvements. A separate amount of money will be earmarked for other sidewalk and street work. The agreement allows the construction of the planned Carol Kimmelman Athletic and Academic Campus, which the county owns, on the current Victoria Golf Course, which is faring poorly compared to similar courses. Another benefit coming to Carson residents under the agreement is limited free access to the campus when construction is finished.

The planned campus will cover 80 acres, and the agreement was approved recently by the City Council. The county approved construction earlier this year.

The anticipated cost of the project could be as much as $100m, and includes eight soccer fields and 62 tennis courts. A learning center focused on youth will cover 25,000 square feet, with the Tiger Woods Foundation operating the facility. Construction could take as long as 18 months, and a groundbreaking is anticipated to take place next year. Logo Design can be used to create a distinctive symbol for projects like this.

The agreement that is giving Carson the money to improve its roads is designed to mitigate the city's concerns about the traffic that could be generated by such a large complex.
