What's Happening in Mesa, AZ…

Spring brings Cyclomesa

Even though El Tour de Mesa, the 72-mile bike ride along the Salt River, will not be taking place this year, the annual Cyclomesa Bicycle Festival is coming in early April. As always, the event will be family friendly and free.

The Phoenix Children Hospital will provide a bike rodeo teaching bike safety, and the City of Mesa Bicycle and Pedestrian Program will be giving out free helmets. A Kids’ Zone will have carnival games, circus performers, zipline, rock wall, face painting, and balloon twisters.

A photo booth will be on site for those wishing to remember all the fun. Other booths will have food vendors, bike-related retail vendors, and information spaces. Retail vendors at events such as this often bring business cards and promotional products to distribute to passers-by.

Attendees may enjoy watching Jayarr Steiner as he creates a live art mural.

Along with musical performances on the Main Stage, the event will feature Superhero Stunt Team’s BMX Stunt Show, and the Arizona Rollergirls will give Roller Derby demonstrations. Unicyclists will roam through the crowd.

Attendees arriving on bikes will have the opportunity to use the new ¾-mile separate bike lanes that are now on First Avenue running from Country Club Drive to Hibbert.

Cyclomesa will take place Saturday, April 1 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in Downtown Mesa at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Robson at the Mesa City Center Plaza.
