Runners begin Labor Day with 5k
Legacy 5k Series will be holding a Labor Day 5k in early September.
This will be a family-friendly run over the pavement, grass, dirt, and sidewalks of Bell Bank Park. There will be a 1.25-mile course for participants with children under the age of eight and those with strollers. A water station will be available at a location that runners will pass twice on the out-and-back 5k course.
Individual registration is $29.99 and can be done online. Groups of 10 or more can receive group discounts. Swag includes T-shirts sporting the custom-made Labor Day 5k logo design, and finisher medals.
Packet pickup will be from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on September 2 at Miller Lite Way, and on race day beginning at 6:30 am. Awards will go to the top three overall finishers.
This is the half-way race in the nine monthly events in the Legacy 5K Series. Each month has had a theme, such as May’s being Cinco de 5k and June’s being Father’s Day 5k.
All Mesa runners who finish will receive points for each race. Points will be accumulated, and prizes will be awarded at the 2022 Series finale in December
Labor Day 5k will be September 3 starting at 8:00 am. The series continues on October 29 with Spo5ky, followed by Tu5key Trot on November 19, and the Jingle Bell 5k on December 17.
