Pair of local venues hold events in May
Both the i.d.e.a. Museum and the Mesa Center for the Arts will be presenting events next week.
The museum will offer a Good Neighbor Celebration, and the Center will have CAFÉ Flutes and MCA Artists in Concert, an afternoon of collaborative and interdisciplinary musical and visual art experiences.
The Good Neighbor Celebration has been created to honor local volunteers, neighborhoods, and residents for their commitment to our community. Guests will be invited to enjoy the art-making experiences and the interactive art-viewing at the museum’s Desert Roots exhibit. They will experience a unique tactile art experience from prickly pear germination to edible fruit, plus STEM activities. Guests may also enjoy music, food, mingling, giveaways, and private museum access.
Museums with programs like this often have pictures taken. These might then go to print shops to be added to future media information.
The 2023 Good Neighbor Celebration will be Tuesday, May 2 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Attendees must RSVP.
Moving on to the concert, the first half will be various musical styles performed by CAFÉ Flutes. After the intermission, the flute ensemble will play four pieces that have a correlation to four projected artwork images currently being displayed in the museum.
Jill Bernstein will lead a discussion about creating dialog and building meaning, and will comment on how composers and artists express themselves. Displaying artists will then discuss their creative processes.
This program will be Sunday, May 7 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
