Mesa high school hosts annual charity football event
Westwood High School will be presenting a flag football event, organized to bring family-friendly entertainment to Mesa, while raising money and awareness for local charities at the same time.
Pros Versus Heroes is a series of flag football events featuring local heroes, in this case the Mesa fire fighters and medical personnel, against the Pro Elite team comprising former professional NFL athletes.
Motor Media has produced these games since 2014. Past participants have been athletes such as former Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s linebacker Al Singleton, Super Bowl XXXVII offensive tackle Roman Oben, and two-time Super Bowl cornerback Mark Collins.
The games will use a nine-on-nine flag football format featuring two 30-minute sessions with a 30-minute halftime show. There will be plenty of concessions for purchase, and adult fans will be invited to dinner and drinks with selected members of both teams at the after party.
This event will be a community outreach where world class athletes will meet local Mesa families and fans and interact with the children.
Fans of these athletes may have pictures taken of themselves and their idols, and many go on to take the pictures to local print shops to have duplicates made that may be sent to friends and family.
Pros Versus Heroes will take place all day on Saturday, February 11 at Westwood High School’s football field, 945 Rio Salado Parkway
