Local organizations hold holiday make-and-takes

A couple of local Mesa organizations are holding holiday workshops.

The Mesa Public Library, 64 E. First Street, is offering a Scrappy Holiday Stocking workshop using recycled fabric. Sewing machines and fabric will be provided and no sewing experience will be necessary. The event will take place this Saturday, December 3, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

The Multipurpose Room at the Mesa Art Center, 1 East Main Street, will hold a one-day Holiday Cardmaking workshop Thursday, December 8 beginning at 10:00 am. Attendees will be creating one-of-a-kind holiday cards using supplies provided by the center. People that make their own holiday cards often take them to local stationery printers to be made into duplicates for family and friends. The multipurpose room is located on the South Studios Building’s 1st Floor.

The Mesa Arts Center will also feature a Holiday Ornaments Class from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on December 2 and 16. Attendees will be using a hydraulic press to form metal holiday ornaments.

On Thursday, December 8 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, the Mesa Public Library will hold a workshop to make upcycled snowman jars. This event is limited to kids ages 8 to 12. Directions and all materials will be provided.

Finally, on Saturday, December 17 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, the Mesa Arts Center will hold a workshop in Italian-style blown glass ornaments. All supplies will be provided.
