Film festival turns five in Mesa
The Mesa Film Festival will be returning for its 5th year at the end of August.
The festival will be a laid-back affair for international filmmakers to showcase their films. It is a little different from most events of its kind in that it does not have any rules about age of film or premieres.
Attendees at festivals such as this are often invited to bring plenty of business cards for networking opportunities.
Around 400 films are expected to be submitted, out of which only 200 will be selected to vie for the 18 awards and prizes. Some categories will in fields like short, feature, concert film, student film, comedy, drama, animation, music video, action, sports documentary, score, international, avant-garde, and Native American.
The event will open on the Wednesday with registration and box office at the Delta Convention Center, and the VIP welcoming party will take place in the Delta Hotel Ballroom.
Thursday will see a Filmmakers Symposium take place at the Center. A happy hour will follow at Cafe Azul. Films will be shown at the hotel and various locations, and Azbrew will have a “Night Cap.”
Friday and Saturday events will begin at 9:00 am and will include a symposium, happy hour, and a four-hour film block. An awards brunch will end the event on Sunday.
