What's Happening in Mesa, AZ…

Filipino flair at Mesa market

Celebrating Filipino America History Month, Mesa’s Asian Chamber Inc. has renamed its Asian District Night Market as the Kamayan Festival, and will host it for two days in early October.

The festival will emphasize Filipino culture, with food, music, entertainment, and a kamayan feast, with kamayan meaning eaten with hands rather than utensils.

Online general admission tickets for the 5:30 pm entries on Saturday, October 8 and 11:00 am entries on Sunday, October 9 will be $5 each day and $8 at the door. Early entry tickets for 5:00 pm entry on October 8 will be $15. Early entry tickets are also available for $18, which will allow ticket holders to get into the event at 5:00 pm opening day and receive general admission tickets for the second day as part of the package.

VIP tickets priced at $85 will include fast pass early admission on both days of the event, and access to the VIP section. This area will include a dedicated dining zone, liquor bar, kamayan feast, and a meet-and-greet with performers.

Those especially interested in world cultures such as that of the Philippines occasionally get some flyer printing done so they can distribute flyers to their friends, neighbors, and work colleagues in advance.

This year’s Kamayan Festival will take place at the AZ International Marketplace, 1920 West Broadway Road.
