Cycling showdown returns to Mesa
Local bike riders will be dusting off their bikes and heading for the annual CycloMesa Unchained Bicycle Festival coming to downtown Mesa this weekend.
The cycling festival will be free and designed for all ages. Cyclists attending the festival may use 1st Avenue’s newly opened separated bike lanes.
The event will have a BMX Stunt Show, a Bike Rodeo, Kids’ Zone, and live entertainment. Local non-profits and commercial bicycle-related vendors will be selling merchandise, passing out business cards and brochures, and offering services. Attendees may join in bicycle safety discussions. The venue will also have food vendors.
Attendees are encouraged to bring cameras and take pictures of the event. Pictures taken at events such as this can be posted on social media or taken to local print shops to be used in the city’s tourist brochure printing.
Volunteers are still needed. Perks will be bright CycloMesa T-shirts sporting this year’s graphic design. Tasks will include holding signs, passing out information and water bottles, and booth-sitting. A clean-up crew will be picking up trash and clearing tables. Water and snacks will be provided. Two shifts will be available - one from 8:30 am to noon, and the other from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm.
CycloMesa will take place this Saturday, April 2 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Robson.
