What's Happening in Mesa, AZ…

Celebration of making returns to Mesa

The Southwest Maker Fest will be back in Downtown Mesa in mid-February.

This one-day collaborative festival has been organized to engage, celebrate, and inspire creative expression within Mesa’s community of young makers.

Interactive projects and exhibits that engage visitors may include traditional, collaborative, and make-and-take art and textile projects; radio-controlled and DIY rockets; machines, tools, and other innovations; flying drones; and large-scale sculptures.

Young creative people will offer STEAM interactions such as kit makers, puppets, repurposed bikes, and homegrown robots. Workshops may include coding, hacking projects, 3-D printing, and computer design. Many of these makers will be selling items.

The Young Maker Award winner will get to present their entry at the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair during April 4 through 6 at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe.

Six sponsorship levels are available, starting with the $100 Friend. All levels will receive acknowledgement on the festival’s website and invitations to the celebration after the festival. The Community Connector $250 sponsors will also get inclusion on the program page. Each of the $500, $1,000, $2,500, and $5,000 sponsors will need to get their logo design to the organizers before the event poster printing and flyer printing is arranged.

The Southwest Maker Fest will be Saturday, February 17 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at MacDonald and Main Street. Admission will be free.
