Arts center plans busy weekends for May
Mesa Arts Center has a number of musical events lined up for weekends in May.
Singin’ in the Rain, a stage play adapted from the legendary 1952 music of the same name, will be presented 8 times in 10 days during the month, with the first next Friday, May 6. CYT Phoenix, a youth theater group, is behind the production. This is an organization that gives children between the ages of 8 and 18 experience as actors, backstage crews, and technical, costume, and makeup artists. The play will take place at the Center’s Nesbitt/Elliott Playhouse, One East Main Street.
The Phoenix Boys Choir will hold an “On the Road: Arizona to West Virginia” concert on Saturday, May 14 at the Piper Repertory Theater beginning at 7:00 pm. The performance will start with music of the American Southwest as the choir collaborates with Native American, Mexican and Arizonan artists. The second half will focus on Appalachian music with Romen Buffalo and the Loyal Order belting out bluegrass and folk tunes.
Finally, Showcase 2022 Americana will be a rock orchestra concert featuring student musicians from around the region. This performance will be at the Ikeda Theater starting at 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 21.
Companies often give tickets to events such as these as corporate gifts, especially to their high-end clients.
