Casa Grande shortlisted as location of major company
A major out-of-state industrial business is considering putting a new facility in Casa Grande.
The company, which wants to remain anonymous, has decided it will locate in either Casa Grande or Salt Lake City. The company's officials have revealed they expect to invest about $1.4bn in the project as an initial capital investment; they also say they will need to fill about 700 jobs. The selection process is referred to as Project 78.
Richard Wilkie, who is the economic development manager for the city, said the unnamed company has been considering Central Arizona Commerce Park as a possible location for its facility. That facility is expected to take between 200 and 400 acres.
Wilkie said Casa Grande is now waiting to hear from the company as to what its next steps will be. He added that the company has spent a number of years trying to find the ideal site, and that Casa Grande first became aware of the interest about two years ago. He also noted the company is going to take the time its needs to find the perfect site for its purposes.
The Commerce Park comprises 580 acres suitable for mot industrial purposes, and is convenient to interstates 8 and 10.
Casa Grande officials might work with a printer to develop calendars highlighting the city's beauty, and give them to Project 78 officers.
