Improvements to be made to Anchorage trail

Anchorage’s Lanie Fleischer Chester Creek Trail will soon be undergoing a major overhaul, and at a recent meeting, the public was updated on what will take place.

Those who attend the public forum were told about how the trail has become damaged due to a combination of weathering and public use. Drainage has also become an issue, and these problems will be corrected. The cost for the enhancements will come in at around $3.175m, which will come from a combination of state grants and municipal bond measures.

Those who came out were also told that, due to having to reroute the pedestrians, cyclists, and other users of the trail while the work is taking place, a series of detours will need to be constructed. They will have to be accessible to whoever wishes to use them.

Work has already been undertaken to build a series of spur trails off the main line, which resulted in portions of the trail being closed. It is expected that the work will take place throughout 2015.

The decision to undertake the project came about as a result of a series of public comment sessions and surveys to get their input into what parts of the city’s infrastructure could use a facelift. Enhancements to the trail were the most request item.

Seeking the public’s input in a situation like this can help to ensure that their needs are being met. A Stationery printing company can create survey and input Forms for just this purpose.
