Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage will organize a special event to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.

The Arctic Thunder Open House is a two-day experience where guests can watch exciting aerial acrobatics performances and military demonstrations. Many groups will perform during the celebration, including the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the Joint Forces Demonstration Team, and the U.S. Army Golden Knights. There will also be performances by civilians at the event. Tailgating is not allowed at the open house, though guests may bring their own lawn chairs to the base.

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is a facility that was created to house a team of Alaska-tough warfighters with the mission of protecting the homeland. Construction on the base started in 1940. Many events are held at the facility, such as karaoke sessions and neon light bowling activities. The base has instructional youth programs, child development centers, and multiple pools. There are also multiple places where people can eat at the base, like Frost Bites and the Grizzly Grill.

The Arctic Thunder Open House will be held on August 8th and August 9th. There is no cost to attend the live show, and guests do not need to be members of the military to watch the performances.
