Fly fishing group to give lesson in Anchorage

Women's Flyfishing™ in Anchorage will be holding a two-day course for beginners in September.

The Ladies Beginner Fly Fishing Class is a course taught by Jolynne Howard and Jacquelyn Eve that covers the fundamentals of fly fishing. The first part of the lesson will discuss the sport’s history and teach students the proper clothing and gear to bring when fishing. The second section focuses on how to cast, hook, and land fish. The class also addresses fishing etiquette and the importance of friendship. Equipment is provided, though participants may bring their own tools if they prefer.

Women's Flyfishing™ is an organization dedicated to helping women learn about the hobby in a safe and non-competitive environment. The group hosts trips where people can catch fish like salmon, trout, and pike. The expeditions held by the organization include the Annual Kenai Cannery Retreat and the TROUTtacular Adventure. Women may join the trips individually, and the guides provide the necessary tools for the excursion.

The fishing lesson will be held on Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The cost to join the course is $150 per woman. The classes will take place on the second floor of the Fishe Wear Retail Shop. Those in charge of educational activities like this may attract more students to their courses by using poster printing to promote the events.
