Fashion show coming to Anchorage

Designers from across Alaska will be taking part in a fashion show soon, in a very unusual venue.

The first Trend Fashion Show ever planned in the city will take place at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, in the Bill Sheffield Alaska Railroad Depot. The railroad built the depot in 2003, when it also built a spur line to the airport.

In total, 14 fashion designers from throughout Alaska are scheduled to take part. Thus far, the Anchorage designers who have confirmed they will attend are Alaska PerSe, FisheWear, David Green Master Furrier, and Claimjumper AK. Three designers are coming from Sitka; four from Juneau; one from Ketchikan, one from Palmer, and one from Nome.

The Alaska Travel Industry Association has organized the event to support the ‘Tourism Works for Alaska’ campaign, which calls attention to the importance of tourism inside the state. The event comprises a cocktail reception, planned to last an hour, which will then by followed by a fashion show, and both live and silent auctions. There will also be a reception to give attendees a chance to meet the designers.

Elizabeth Hall, the board chair of the ATIA, said that tourism within Alaska is one of the state's major economic drivers, with over 52,000 Alaskans depending on it.

The Trend Fashion Show will be held from 6:00 pm until 9:30 pm on September 27. Events like this give small business owners a great opportunity to distribute their Business Cards.
