Anchorage to offer program on stress relief

The Alaska Nurses Association will hold a program on how to reduce stress at Studio 505 in Anchorage.

Mindfulness for Stress Relief is a course that is part of the AK Center for Mindfulness' Stress Reduction Program. The event teaches participants how to reduce negative moods and chronic pain through mindful awareness and compassion. The program consists of eight classes and a one-day retreat. Students will get to practice yoga at the course and take part in group dialogues. Participants may also request nursing contact hours for the program. Associations in charge of similar courses can use flyer printing to advertise their educational programs to local audience members.

The instructor of the program is Tara Lampert, the primary instructor for the AK Center for Mindfulness. She has been practicing yoga and meditation since 1999 and started teaching yoga in Alaska in 2014. Lampert went to school at the Spirit Rock Meditation Center and Western Kentucky University. She also teaches at the University of Alaska Anchorage as an adjunct professor and volunteers at the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center.

The stress relief course will be held from January 16th to March 12th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The cost to take part in the mindfulness program is $649 per person. A free orientation for the class will take place on January 9th.
