Anchorage to host Japan-themed festival

The Japan Alaska Association will organize a summer festival in August at the Kincaid Chalet in Anchorage.

The Japanese Summer Festival is a cultural experience for all ages where guests can see live performances and participate in themed activities. There will be many kinds of food for attendees to try, such as teriyaki burgers, yakisoba buns, and ramune drinks. Event-goers can see taiko performances from the Tomodachi Daiko and the Kato Family. Yuki Moore will hold a traditional tea ceremony during the festival, and there will also be a sumi-e performance by Hana Wilcoxson.

The Japan Alaska Association is an organization that was created in 1988. The group was initially known as the Japanese Society of Alaska and was formed to promote friendship between Alaska and Japan. There are many events organized by the association, including the Rice Pounding Festival and the Annual Membership New Year's party. People can become members of the organization by paying an annual fee of $25. Members get benefits like a subscription to the association's newsletter and free admission to events.

The Japanese-themed event will be held on Sunday, August 10th from noon to 3:00 pm. The festival is open to the public, and there is no registration needed to attend. Associations that hold cultural activities like this may use flyer printing services to help promote their programs to more people.
